Treating a person in hospital

A hospital is always responsible for their patients whilst they are on hospital premises.

If you are ever asked to give a Reiki treatment to a person in hospital, first try to see if you are able to do a distance healing (for practitioners with Reiki 2 or above) since this method is the most discreet.

If you are unable to do a distance healing and can only give the treatment at the hospital, on arrival at the hospital you must ask for permission first from the Nursing Office/Ward Sister before entering the ward or department.  Try to be as discreet as possible.  Being quiet and without disrupting the person or surrounding patients sit quietly at the bedside holding the person's hand and meditate, seeking upliftment for the person.  On completion of the treatment, the Reiki practitioner should leave the ward informing the nurse in charge of the department.

At all times, it is important to foster good relationships with medical/nursing staff.  The Reiki practitioner's attitude and approach is of utmost importance.

Whilst at the hospital, the Reiki practitioner is does not have the right or freedom to wander around.  The Reiki practitioner should not wear a white coat whilst they are at the hospital.

Always check your country's rules and regulations relating to Reiki practice, especially within hospitals.
