Is there anyone I can't treat with Reiki? |

|
Reiki has always been taught as a treatment that can be used on anyone. This is normally a statement that the majority of practitioners believes to be true. However, there are a number of instances that have appeared on the internet and in books over the years that have raised an interesting question...even though it was always thought that anyone could be treated without any harm, could there be contraindications emerging because of the medical advances and the way we live our lives now? The following arguments have purely been listed as areas for practitioners to think about and discuss. One question in particular is whether people should be treated with a pace maker. If we, as practitioners, believe that watches should be removed during treatments because of their effect on the flow of energy around the body and also because they can be found to stop during a treatment, could the same be true of a pacemaker? Treating broken bones has also been a topic of discussion. One group stating that Reiki shouldn't be done on a newly broken bone because it may set incorrectly and too quickly. However, assuming that the usual procedure is followed where the bone should be properly set and seen to by a medical practitioner or doctor first. There shouldn't be any reason why treatments can't be done in the future. A person with infectious skin conditions can still be treated with Reiki off the body but there must be considerations made regarding cross contamination of the area they are lying or sitting on, especially if it is within your own practice where other clients are going to be lying and sitting. People in these situations could be done using distance healing if the practitioner has done Reiki 2 or higher. The general consensus for all these discussions tends to be that if Reiki energy is given to a client for the person's highest good, it will always go where it is needed the most on a physical, mental, emotional or spiritual level. It will certainly not harm a person. Ultimately, the answer is down to the practitioner. If they have any reservations about the client, they may not channel Reiki anyway and therefore the treatment will be redundant. So ensure you are happy with treating a person, and if you are concerned about any client symptoms you should ask the client to seek advice from a relevant medical professional.
